Daedalus
One of four of our vineyards in The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater, which is renowned for its cobblestone-rich gravels deposited by the Walla Walla River. The cobblestones consist entirely of basalt, a dark-colored volcanic rock. One of the most distinctive appellations in the world, The Rocks has tightly drawn borders of 5.9 square miles with a singular soil type, resulting in wines of distinction with complex flavor profiles.

About the name:
A nod to viticulturist Matías Kúsulas’s Greek heritage, Icarus is known in mythology for his bold ambition and risk‑taking spirit, ultimately meeting his demise after flying too close to the sun. He is also the son of Daedalus, the namesake of one of our other vineyards in The Rocks. As a tie to Matías’s passion for skydiving, Icarus is fittingly the name of a well‑known skydiving parachute brand.
